Case study

Meridian Data: from optimism to evidence in two quarters.

A 40-rep enterprise data platform swapped annual workshops for continuous coaching on the process it already ran. Here is what moved.

The situation

Meridian Data ran the classic enablement engagement the year before: a two-day offsite, a certification, a laminated card. Six months later, call reviews showed three versions of the value story and a pipeline where 'budget owner' meant whoever answered last. Two of the quarter's three largest deals slipped without warning.

What changed

Instead of re-running training, Meridian put its existing qualification framework where the work happens. Reps opened the coach before every first call and every deal review. Managers stopped asking how a deal felt and started asking for the artifact behind each field on the scorecard.

The mechanism

Coaching lasts only if it is there at the moment of doubt. A rep drafting a follow-up at 10pm cannot book a workshop. They can ask a question, get a principle plus a next action, and send a better email. Repeat that a few hundred times a quarter and the team's language converges without another offsite.

The outcome

Two quarters in, forecast calls got short. Deals without a named budget owner and a written decision process were pulled from commit early, so the number the board saw was the number that closed. Slippage did not disappear. It stopped being a surprise.
